Keeping up with piano practicing over summer!
This year, I have set up a Summer Piano Challenge for my students to encourage them to play 30 new songs from any books they encounter from the bookstore or library and they can come back to receive a prize at the end of summer.
What are my summer practice tips?
- Set a new routine – ie. Before we go to the park, let’s practice for 15 minutes
- Bring a portable keyboard with you to an outdoor space. (backyard, campground, cabin etc.) This year, I had a year-end party with my piano students at the park and I was able to bring my portable keyboard and stand to the park. All it required for an extra 4 AA batteries. Outdoor piano playing can be so refreshing!
- Practice away from the keyboard? What about drawing a large music staff or large music keyboard with chalk on your deck, sidewalk and start to review notes, chords etc?
- Summer Practice Rewards? No one can say no ice cream or another tasty summer treat after a good practice session
If would like to participate in
my 2017 Summer Piano Challenge, just email me and I will give you a copy of my
template. You child will receive a small prize at the end of summer and he or she will be eligible for a free piano lessons
consultation. Email me at: mfpianostudio@gmail.com for more
details.
Enjoy the Sunshine and the
precious family time this summer!
Cheers,
Maggie
